Rehearsing the Ideal
These works examine how ideals of femininity are constructed, rehearsed, and made to feel natural.
The series draws on archival images of women performing, posing and moving in synchrony. Through repetition, mirroring and alignment, individual bodies begin to dissolve into pattern. What looks effortless is revealed as something carefully practiced. The figures appear caught in a choreography they did not invent. Gestures, postures and expressions repeat across bodies and images, suggesting how femininity is learned through constant visual rehearsal.
Potpourri
These works combine vintage photographic images of womenwith botanical and ornamental elements. The works explore how images of women are softened, embellished and made pleasurable to look at, how decoration becomes a way of shaping the gaze. The title Potpourri refers to a mixture of dried flowers preserved for their scent and beauty. In a similar way, these images bring together fragments that are arranged and held in place, creating surfaces that invite looking and lingering.
